How to Record Voiceover in DaVinci Resolve 20 - Alli shows you how to record voiceover right in DaVinci Resolve 20!
I'm going to show you how quick and easy it is to record voice over right in DaVinci Resolve.
So, I'm in the edit page here and I have this clip I'd like to have some voice over played underneath with. See this microphone icon here? Click on that. That brings up our record voice over window. If you care to change the file name, you can do so here.
Under audio input, we have this drop-down menu. Just double check that you're using your preferred microphone. And under record track, by default, it's set to auto, which would let DaVinci Resolve decide which track your voice over is going to be recorded to. Uh, I actually prefer setting it myself because, let's say you had talking head audio already on the A1 track and you just want your voice over on a separate track.
When you click the drop-down menu, right now I don't have the option to record on a second track. That's because I just got to double click over here where the A1 track is on my timeline. Add track. I'll add another mono track. There we go. Now, under record track, you'll see I have the option to choose audio one track or audio 2.
Let's click this microphone button and start recording. We have our countdown, which is nice. Okay. And here we are. This is a woman walking in a field in slow motion. Press the microphone again to stop your recording. Awesome. And here we'll just zoom in is our recorded voice over.
Okay. And the last beep of the countdown was recorded, so we can just trim that in a bit. You can move this voice over. You can put it on the A1 track, drag down to add it on a new track. Easy peasy.
Just also want to show you quickly in the record voice over window. Let's click on these three little dots. If you don't want to have the enable three-second countdown, uncheck that. Let's click the three little dots again. Another thing that I do like to do, especially if there's other audio already on my timeline, is mute timeline audio while recording, just so nothing else is picked up when you're doing your voice over recording. You can hide these extra options if you want to.
Now, if you want to adjust your monitor level, let's click on that. You have the option to do so with this slider here. The mic monitor level adjusts how loud you hear your own voice through your headset when you speak into your microphone.
So, there you go. That's how quick and easy it is to record voice over directly in Resolve. Some videos I highly recommend you check out after this one, I'm going to link right here. Have yourself a lovely day and we'll see you in the next video.
